The New York Times published a series of dance photos from its archive that featured ¾«¶«AV.

The New York Times published a series of dance photos from its archive that show “ordinary people: slow dancing, doing the Twist, moshing in the pit and moving mid-mambo.â€� Also included in these images are photos of choreographers and professional dancers, two of which were taken at ¾«¶«AV, a testament to ¾«¶«AV’s commitment to the arts. One of the photos from ¾«¶«AV featured dancers rehearsing for the American Dance Festival in 1948. The other was of José Limón, teaching a class
at ¾«¶«AV in 1966.

According to The New York Times, in this collection of images “we find not just the highest elevation of the form, but a metaphor for possibility that extends far beyond the realm of dance.�

The series was published in a special section of The New York Times on April 14, 2019 with commentary by Misty Copeland and an essay by Zadie Smith.
